International Poker Open Looks to Become Largest European Event Ever
International Poker Open IrelandOrganizers are hoping the the International Poker Open will become the largest European poker event ever.

With a buy-in of €150 the International Poker Open is not looking to set any records for largest prizepool. However, what the organizers do want to do is set a record for the largest field ever for a European poker event.

Irish poker tournament specialist, Poker Ireland, hopes to attain this ambitious goal with the lower buy-in and their ability to host up to 1,000 players in the facilities they have secured for the event. The previous record for a European poker event is held by the 2007 Irish Open at 708 entrants.

With the growth of the European Poker Tour and the arrival of the WSOP, Europe will begin to see these larger fields much more often. In fact, the EPT event in Monte Carlo this year just barely missed the mark as largest European event at 706 entrants.

The International Poker Open will be held on Saturday and Sunday October 6-7, 2007 in the Royal Dublin Society Shelbourne Hall and the Jackpot Club, Dublin.
