Mass Online Poker Protest
On Tuesday morning, a Harvard law professor and a group of rabid poker players known as the Poker Players Alliance will stage a rally in Boston to protest being branded as criminals. Under new legislation, a Massachusetts House bill would enact penalties of $25,000 and 2 years in jail for those caught gambling online, even in the privacy of their own home.

Winnipeg Poker Players Accept Plea Bargain
A least 30 Manitoba poker players charged after a gambling raid earlier this year have elected to fold their cards and take Manitoba justice officials up on a controversial plea bargain. The large group of accused made their intentions known during a brief court appearance today. They will enroll in a "positive lifestyles" program through the Salvation Army, with the Crown promising to drop charges upon completion. Their next court appearance is slated for February.
 
Poker Players Alliance on Capitol Hill
Now it's poker players who are getting into the congressional lobbying game. Next week, nearly 100 members of the Poker Players Alliance will mass on Capitol Hill to press lawmakers not to outlaw online poker playing. Last year, Congress passed an anti-Internet gambling measure, and federal regulators are now assembling the rules to put the law into effect. The House Judiciary and Financial Services committees also have e-gambling on their agendas.
