Standard Deck of 52 Playing Cards With Joker

The standard deck of playing cards comprises of 52 individual cards across four equal suits: clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades.

The suits are numbered from 2 to 10 then followed by the ace and the face cards Jack, Queen and King.

The Joker is a “wild card” meaning that it can substitute any of the “playing cards” in a suit to complete a hand. More often than not the Joker is left out of the pack when playing cards, however in the case of online video poker the joker is often used in gamel-play.

Card Playing Direction

The playing cards in a standard deck are more often than not distinguishable from any viewing direction, meaning that they can be seen right side up and upside down. The obvious reason for this is that in many card games there is a “dealer” and a “player”, and both need to be able to readily read the cards.
